Devlog 001 - The Morgue

***Mona Mourn is a visual novel set in Silverport;

A visual novel murder mystery where our detective returns to his hometown, Silverport, to solve a streak of murders much similar to the one that drove him away almost 20 years ago.

During his journey he reunites with several familiar faces and meets even more. Werewolves & Vampires alike live in this town & the latest body sure wasn’t killed by an animal.***

This week I worked on the Detective’s first visit to the morgue in the story.

The morgue is located deep within the walls of St-Paola’s hospital in Silverport, down several staircases, far from any living patients. You & the Sheriff visit to see the first three bodies that are still being held by the hospital.

It shares a nearby space with the now defunct creature clinic that was run by Doctor Scarlet. Ever since her passing, Doctor Reyes has taken on nearly 3X the workload in order to maintain the health of Vampires & Werewolves within the town.

Doctor Reyes is the werewolf coroner/pathologist/medical examiner at St-Paola’s. You reunite with her for the first time since childhood during your trip. She has a very keen eye for detail & is heavily responsible for shaping the Detective’s ability to tell a story with the information he learns out in the field. She enjoys being tucked away in her small corner. It means no one bothers her on most days.

She seems to think something suspicious is going on with the newest body. Somehow it doesn’t fit with the previous ones, but she doesn’t have all the information to figure it out.

She’s strapped for time for your first visit, but she trusts the detective will be able to make the best out of everything he finds.

I’m almost done with the morgue section, I just need to finish up some of the choices dialogue you need to go through :3c

I’ll also be adding several choices into the demo section text. I wanted to keep the demo fairly simple, so I didn’t bother with any persistents, but I think the full version would merit having them in a couple places.
